About
WaniCare Foundation
Wani is an abbreviation of the word wanita which means girl in Bahasa Indonesian. Wani can also be translated as Willemijn ANImal Care. The WaniCare Foundation, founded by veterinary assistant Willemijn Eggen from the Netherlands, is specialized in animal care, primarily primates. Willemijn has worked since the age of 16 in a veterinary practice and in animal rescue centres in the Netherlands, Thailand and Indonesia. She has done an incredible good job for a wide range of animals in these centres, from veterinary work to fund raising. She loves working with primates and above all is very passionate about orang utans. The saving of hurted or diseased animals means the world to her and so far she is doing a very impressive job in realizing this, as can be read in the stories that are posted on this website.
PPSC
Currently the WaniCare Foundation is working for animal rescue centre PPSC. PPSC means Pusat Penyelamatan Satwa Cikananga and is based in the hills of Cikananga in West Java Indonesia. PPSC is a large centre that gives home to a huge variety of animals that are in need of help, from snakes to kasuaris to orang utans and gibbons. Unfortunately PPSC is going through rough times at the moment, mainly caused by a lack of steady donations. Willemijn, with the WaniCare Foundation, is reorganizing and supporting the centre with the goal of eventually letting the centre run properly by itself. A striking example of this is the agreement reached with local supermarkets to donate out of date food to the centre. This food can be perfectly used for the animals at PPSC and in this way a lot of money is saved. There is still a lot of work to be done, but with the efforts of the Wani Care Foundation PPSC is more and more able to attain its orginal goal: the rescuing of animals and eventually their release in their natural habitat.
Please donate
The WaniCare Foundation runs entirely on donations. Every donation will be used directly for animal rescue as you can read in the stories that are posted on this website. Please support the WaniCare Foundation by donating and save a large number of diseased or hurted animals that are in so much need of your help.
