28 July 2016 – The young orangutan that arrived yesterday morning is slowly settling in, which means she is also catching up on a lot of sleep. Her rescue was part of a big confiscation in which another four! young orangutans were saved from the hands of traders by a joint operation of JAAN, Centre for Orangutan Protection and BKSDA. These young orangutans are captured after their mothers are killed and in the case of this little girl her horrific journey continued when she was sent by box inside a public bus from Lampung, Sumatra, to Jakarta! Here at Cikananga she now receives 24hour care and love during her quarantine period to help her recover from her ordeal.
