About Wanicare
Wanicare’s main focus is supporting the Cikananga Wildlife Rescue Center through direct operational and financial support. Founded by Willemijn Eggen in 2009, Wanicare grew from her strong commitment to improving the lives of rescued wildlife and her belief that more could be done to give confiscated animals a second chance in the wild. Since then, we have worked continuously to improve the center, with animal welfare and wellbeing at the heart of our efforts.
Together with Cikananga and other organizations, Wanicare has also developed conservation and wildlife release programs focused on habitat protection, wildlife conservation, and the return of endangered species such as the Silvery Gibbon and Javan Leopard to the wild. Rescue & Conservation
Over the years, Wanicare and the Cikananga team have achieved a great deal through hard work, determination, and a modest budget. Today, we remain closely involved in the rescue center, caring for confiscated wildlife, running volunteer and internship programs, developing conservation and release projects, and building rehabilitation enclosures.
As Cikananga continues to develop, we are expanding our network of wildlife rescue and animal welfare organizations across Asia. We provide practical support and direct assistance to help rescue centers and conservation programs succeed. Our ultimate goal is to return confiscated wildlife to its natural habitat whenever possible.
Education & Collaboration
Education is central to our work. We involve local and international students in our projects and visit schools in Indonesia and the Netherlands to share the lessons we learn on the front lines of wildlife conservation.
We also work closely with a network of conservation partners to deliver our mission and create greater impact through collaboration.

Our Team
Founder & Director of WanicareWillemijn Eggen
Willemijn founded Wanicare in 2009 to support the activities of the Cikananga Wildlife Center and worked for over 12 years as General Manager of the rescue center, helping it to become the diverse center it is today. She is still closely involved in continuing the development of the center and related projects. For her full-time job of running Wanicare and the related conservation and education projects, she receives compensation and travels to Cikananga at least twice a year to work with the team.- Board member and secretary of Wanicare
Inge Tielen
Inge joined Cikananga in 2011 as part of her MSc in Forest and Nature Conservation at Wageningen University. Inge led the Eagle, Silvery Gibbon, Hornbill, and Leopard Programs, and was manager of the Cikananga Conservation and Breeding Center. From 2019-2023, Inge was the Deputy Director Life Science at the Cikanaga Wildlife Center. Today Inge supports Wanicare on a voluntary basis, she teaches Wildlife management at Yuverta MBO Helmond and is one of our statutory directors. 
Chairman of WanicareWillemijn Sevens
Willemijn Seven has been our Chairman since 2016 and shares her experience of a long consulting career in HR and non-profits. Eversince traveling to the Cikananga Wildlife Center and working hands-on as a volunteer, she is even more dedicated to coach and provide advice for daily and organizational matters for the Wanicare Foundation. Willemijn support Wanicare on a voluntary basis and is one of our statutory directors.

Ben is our experienced treasurer, and is in close contact with the operational team for the financials. Ben supports Wanicare on a volutary basis after a long entrepreneurial career. Ben is one of our statutory directors.
PR & fundraising at WanicareRoel Jansen
Roel looks after public relations, funding, and maintains the media channels like this website. From 2016 to 2018 Roel worked on-site at the Cikananga Wildlife Center and occasionally travels to the project site. Roel works in marketing for a financial services software provider and supports Wanicare voluntarily.

The Wanicare Foundation has been recognised by the CBF (The Dutch Charity Regulator), meaning our organisation has been independently assessed and meets high standards for good governance, responsible fundraising, financial accountability, and proven impact. The Dutch government has designated Wanicare the ANBI status, meaning Public Benefit Organisation. This means at least 90% of the organization's efforts are focused on the general good and tax deductions are possible for Dutch residents and organizations.
NGOsource Certified Public Charity
The Wanicare Foundation has successfully completed the NGOsource Equivalency Determination, confirming that our organisation is equivalent to a U.S. public charity. This independent assessment demonstrates that Wanicare meets internationally recognised standards for governance, financial accountability, and charitable purpose.
The NGOsource Equivalency Determination enables U.S. foundations to support the Wanicare Foundation more easily while complying with U.S. tax regulations. This simplifies the grantmaking process, reduces administrative requirements, and strengthens opportunities for international partnerships and funding to further our charitable mission.
